August Spotlight Holidays
Heads up, heroes — August 7th is Purple Heart Day! Time to salute the brave, honor the strong, and give a respectful nod to those who’ve earned this prestigious badge of courage.
We’re not saying you need to wear purple (okay, maybe we are ), but today’s the day to recognize real-life superheroes who’ve faced the unthinkable and come through with hearts of steel — and Purple Hearts to prove it.
Let’s keep the spirit light, the gratitude loud, and the purple… everywhere.
Senior Citizens Day – August 21st! They’ve got stories that could fill a library, dance moves that defy time, and wisdom you wish you had during your last group project.
Today, we celebrate the legends who’ve been there, done that — and probably did it before Google existed.
This Month's Recipe

Adopt a Pet!
Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary & Rescue Pet of Month
Rancho Family Medical Group is proud to partner with Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary! Each month, we will feature a “Pet of the Month” that is available for adoption. Hope Ranch has also initiated a wonderful program called the Senior Fur Senior Program, where adoption fees are waived for seniors (65+) adopting a senior dog (7+). Fees may vary depending on the dog or length of stay, but this initiative aims to bring joy and companionship to both the pets and their new owners.
Meet Spatz, an absolutely adorable 14-year-old boy with a vibrant personality! Weighing around 10-13 lbs, he’s a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix who acts like he’s half his age. Spatz is mellow, easygoing, and gets along well with other dogs, though he’s perfectly content on his own too.
At around 11 years young, Winston is a distinguished Schnauzer gentleman with the energy of a pup and the manners of a true gentle-dog. He’s the kind of guy who’s ready for whatever your day holds—whether you’re working, gardening, binge-watching true crime documentaries, or going on a leisurely stroll, Winston is 100% in. He doesn’t just want to be near you—he wants to *do life* with you.
Health-wise, Winston’s doing great! He’s had a recent vet checkup, got an allergy shot (he was very brave about it), and gets eyedrops twice a day—which he takes like a champ. He’s got that classic Schnauzer spunk and hasn’t let a few senior years slow him down one bit.
Winston’s looking for a forever home where he can be your little shadow, your couch buddy, your walking partner, and your number one fan. Bonus points if you’re a sucker for expressive eyebrows and happy tail wags.
Ginger is a tiny, 8-pound sweetheart is a 10-year-old Chihuahua with a calm soul and a gentle spirit. She may be partially blind and toothless, but don’t let that fool you—she gets around just fine and even eats dry food without any issues! With just a little help from eye drops twice a day, she continues to thrive and enjoy life at her own pace.
She’s pad trained but will also do her business outside when you take her out. She’s easygoing and sleeps contentedly in a cozy dog bed, though she’s not allowed on the human bed for safety reasons, since she’s had a few close calls with falling off.
She’s great with both cats and other dogs, as long as they respect her space and don’t try to pester her. She’s a quiet little companion, low-maintenance and full of love. She’s perfect for a calm home with someone who appreciates the special charm of a senior pup.
