Dr. Hizon Bio
Dr. Jerry W. Hizon earned his degree in Biology from Loyola Marymount University and completed his medical education at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from UC San Diego and has spent many years in private practice, including 14 years serving as the medical team physician for the San Diego Chargers.
In 2009, Dr. Hizon was recognized as the “Sports Medicine Champion” by the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation. For the past 28 years, he has also been a volunteer team physician for Temecula Valley High School. His extensive community contributions include performing over 4,500 pre-participation sports examinations for local schools, earning him the Distinguished Citizen of the Year award for Temecula in 2015.
Dr. Hizon is affiliated with several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the California Medical Association. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UC Riverside School of Medicine and serves as a medical advisor for the Temecula Physician Leaders Program. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Governors for Temecula Valley Hospital and serves as core faculty for the Family Medicine Residency Program, focusing on lifestyle medicine and musculoskeletal point-of-care ultrasound.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hizon plays a leadership role in Lions Club International, heading their Type II Diabetes Program. He has been married to his wife, Theresa, a reading specialist at Red Hawk Elementary School, for 36 years. They are the proud parents of four children and three grandchildren. Having lived in Temecula for over 30 years, their youngest son, Brian, is currently pursuing his medical education at Rush Medical College in Chicago.

An APP (Advanced Practice Practitioner) is either a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. While doctors and APP’s differ in their education level, APP’s can diagnose, treat and coordinate care as a regular Primary Care Physician would.
Our doctors currently accept all insurance plans that our medical group, Regal accepts. However, as physicians’ patient panels become increasingly impacted, some physicians will only accept new Medicare Advantage patients only.
As a patient of Rancho Family, you’re welcome to see any provider within the group. All your medical records and chart notes are available to whichever provider you choose to schedule with, so if your doctor is unavailable, don’t worry! Our providers are here to make your care as cohesive as possible.
Becoming a new patient is easy! If you are 65+ and need help, please call our Patient Relations team at 951-225-6808. If you are not a senior or not on Medicare, you can call the office directly at 951-676-4193.
