Melissa’s interest in medicine began in high school, during her Anatomy and Physiology course. She went on to graduate from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. She then earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Sierra College School of Nursing, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 2022, Melissa graduated from Loma Linda University with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree and became board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Before transitioning into pediatric care, Melissa worked as a Registered Nurse for 15 years, with 12 years in the emergency department and 3 years in inpatient nursing. She spent nearly 11 years at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Murrieta, where she was actively involved in the Pediatric ER and led initiatives to improve pediatric care within the emergency department.

During her graduate studies, Melissa completed clinical training at several clinics, including Loma Linda University Health pediatric outpatient clinics, pediatric urgent care, and pediatric urology in Indio, as well as other pediatric offices throughout Riverside County.

Outside of the clinic, Melissa enjoys working out, interior decorating, boating, camping, baking, and spending quality time with her family. She also loves watching her children learn and grow.
